Best of 2015: 70-61

-70: Evans The Death- Expect Delays

Fun, fast moving indie rock. A little angsty but still rocks and rolls with jangle and warmth.

-69: Hayden- Hey Love

Wasn't expecting another one from him so fast, but this feels like a nice companion piece to Us Alone. Lo-fi, warm, subdued folk.

-68: Floating Points- Elaenia

Warm electronic instrumentation that feels organic and natural. Floating Points is a pretty accurate description on it's own- sometimes the music seems to float in and out in bright bursts.

-67: My Morning Jacket- The Waterfall

Opening track is a stunner and quality persists throughout. I've never been fully able to navigate his output, but this album makes me want to try again.

-66: Asaf Avidan- Gold Shadow

Israeli dude with a very unique voice- reminiscent of a more blues based Tallest Man on Earth. Some of the roots simplicity of Alabama Shakes or the Black Keys but toned down a bit.

-65: Jaime XX- In Colour

Appropriately titled- surprisingly vibrant for house music and for what I expected from him based on his work in the XX.

-64: Advance Base- Nephew In The Wild

Melancholy kind of lo-fi simple songs that were moving and pleasant all at the same time. Not on Spotify, with more listens this might have ended up higher.

-63: Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (s/t)

Rollicking soulful throwback that never feels forced or campy. Fits right in with the modern vintage style that seems to be making a resurgence.

-62: STS x RJD2- Self Titled

Killer combo of RJD2 beats and Atlanta rapper STS. First few songs are mega party jams, and then it falls off a little but a solid listen. Good to see RJD2 getting back into production.

-61: Justin Townes Earle- Absent Fathers

A companion piece to 2014's "Single Mothers", enjoys similar country style pleasantries about heartbreak and etc.
